A paver patio is only as flat as what is under it, so the base gets the most time. We dig it out, lay and compact the base, then set the pavers and lock the edges.
Pavers are usually one piece of a bigger plan: a walk out to the patio, steps down from the porch, a fire pit, new beds around the edge. We build all of it, so it is laid out together and finished at the same time.
